Balancing Motherhood with a Career- The Modern Day Superwoman.

Motherhood and work have increasingly become two facets of life many women have to juggle with whilst trying to keep every other area of their lives intact. The question however is can these two be effectively balanced so both can be handled successfully? Here are a few tips to make the most of both whilst making space for some “me” time.

Set some priorities

Work and taking care of your kids are both extremely important, but in order to carry both out efficiently you may have to draw up a list that will clearly outline what you have to do at what time. This will also help prevent you from neglecting whatever you have to do at any point in time. What are the two or three most important things you need to achieve per day? Focus on that as compared to trying to achieve so many things at once. Superwomen need to pace things out too! And remember…you do not have to do everything, so there may be some commitments you may eventually have to cut out to give you more time to focus on your priorities.

Find a routine that works

If work starts at say, 8am, it may be much better to start your day early enough for you to prepare the kids for school and carry out your morning activities without having to rush. Identifying a routine that works for you will help reduce the everyday clutter and will give you enough time to carry out each task. Don’t forget to try and get some sleep as early as you can the night before, so you can wake up bright and early the next day to start your routine again.

Let work be work and home be home

You could try as much as possible to do all your work in the office to reduce the amount of work you have to bring home. This will help set a clear demarcation between your work and home and will help you spend quality time with your family without too many distractions. This will also help you to be fully present mentally for your children when they are telling you all about their day at school and the homework they have to deal with.

Don’t worry if you work from home. This can still apply to you…just set a clear time and area for work, after which it’s time for only family.

Make every minute count

In our setting where traffic is very common, dropping the kids off at school could be another opportunity to interact and spend time with them (if they’re not asleep) before their day really starts. Though short, these few minutes could become very precious to your children as it eventually becomes that “Mummy and me” moment which makes them feel loved and shows you’re interested in their affairs.

Try and get some rest

Even if it’s for just an hour or 30 minutes, a little shut-eye never hurts! You could make use of the quiet time whilst your kids are napping, or find something that helps you relax during the weekend, so you can start the week fully refreshed. You can only be hundred percent efficient both as a mother and career-woman if you find time to rest.

We appreciate all the superwomen out there. Keep going, and don’t forget to consciously make some time to rejuvenate and get back up!

Five tips that helped me in my Transformation Journey – LearnWithGathy

We just had to share these golden nuggets from Our very own Gathy of Learn with Gathy as she shares some life changing moments in her career that transformed her journey. Take a break, relax and enjoy as you learn.

“In 2017 I took a huge bet on myself and decided to transform my life. I had read in books and heard that transformation is possible but now I have experienced it my self. My dear leader you can be anything you want to be, if you purpose in your heart to be. The old ” you “must die before the best “you” Can be born.

Let me share 5 tips that helped me in my transformation journey”: 📍
1.Don’t wait till you have ideal conditions to step up. Change is unleashed with a simple start.
2.Build a network of Positive minded people. You will need to change the people you associate with. The people you hang out with either influence you positively or negatively. Change your circles to people who tell you about your strengths & weaknesses and are willing to work with you to achieve your goals.
3.Adopt good habits, this was one difficult thing for me to do. I had to totally change the way I feel about myself and mostly my mindset. Your habits form your behavior and your behavior predicts the kind of life you have….choose some good habits; – read books – Have a daily routine – learn new things – travel if you can afford it – Eat healthy One of the good habits I adopted was getting up early & starting my day in the quiet of my room.
4.Commit to self development. Decide to improve yourself slowly but steadily. Be conscious of the person you want to be and continuously improve to become that person.
5.Go after your dreams and inspire others to do so.

A Mom’s World

Right from the day I came into her life, she knew her life had taken a whole new turn. As a new mom, she had to find ways of juggling her daily chores while seeing to the needs of her kid and husband. Creating her own kind of world as an unemployed mom was all she could think of.

Being inspired to create a balanced lifestyle, she decided to work from home, one that she could have both her mind and heart fully at home while pursuing her passion. Just like a proverbs 31 woman, she would rise at dawn, plan a schedule and see to it that daddy is set for work. With me in my cozy cradle, belly-filled, she would gather her straws and start knitting her hand-made shopping baskets. While looking on to me, she joyfully knitted. Breaking intermediately, she fed and put me to sleep then closely tick through her To-do list with so much fulfilment.

With the help of dad, she established an online business line where she showcased and sold her products. She would be the last to go to bed almost everyday after blogging her days activities with the aim of inspiring other moms worldwide. A day well spent with a healthy family and glowing business has been her deepest pride.

She is a mom with gifted hands, a beautiful soul, a loving heart, filled with divine wisdom and strong in all areas. She is a vessel of honor and her family couldn’t have asked for anything better.
