Father’s Role in a busy Mompreneur’s Life

For the past few days I have focused solely on how mother’s can balance their work life, de-stress themselves and as well manage time as mothers doubling up as entrepreneurs.
I haven’t forgotten the enormous role fathers also play in the life’s of these women behind the scenes to support them.
I have come across a lot of fathers who personally take it upon themselves to ensure the kids have their homework done every time.
There are fathers who also ensure the house chores designated to each child is completed by the child without excuses
Some fathers also personally support and motivate their wife’s in every business venture they decide to undertake,  financially, morally, socially.
It is healthy to have a discussion with the man of the house to help you manage both the work load and home duties. It becomes better when you have a man who understands this and is willing to be involved in both aspects of your  life as a Mompreneur.
Its great to be strong-willed and confident as a Mompreneur, but there is nothing as comforting as having a man who supports you both in your work life and duties as a mother.

No Goal. No Aim

I was introduced to the Power of Goals by Dan Miller some few days ago and I realized the bigger picture of setting goals in life.
I realized working without a plan or goal in life sometimes gets one confused and clueless. Without any set goals  there is no clear cut plan on how one actually wants to live his or her life.
This can make one indecisive and makes it easy for you to go with the flow. Without a goal any road leads to our destination in life.  For Dan Miller, goals do not only encompass our finances and career.
It covers every little aspect of our lives. His goals for each individual are broken down into FINANCIAL, PHYSICAL,PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT,FAMILY,SPIRITUAL, SOCIAL,CAREER GOALS.
Every aspect of our lives are important. It is surprising how we will take for granted certain  aspects of our lives.
If you are bent on loosing weight as a goal, list the things you would like to do on daily, weekly or monthly basis to help you achieve that goal in the long term.
Do you plan on taking walks, skipping for 30 minutes a day or just giving yourself an hour to relax. Remember wealth is difficult to enjoy if you have given up Health in the process.
How do you plan on developing yourself, how many books do you read in a month or even a year?
How much time do you spend with the family, are you always busy with no time left for yourself to even apportion time to the family.
When we set goals we turn to see a difference in our activities. We realize we are able to accomplish a lot of things and even have more time to ourselves.

The best time to create the future is now.

3. FREEBIES – I deliver for free when customers place an order for the first time and it’s over a certain amount. I give free products and samples or sometimes just little pack of sweets or a chocolate bar. You will be amazed the difference it makes.

4  FREE ADVICE/CONSULTATION –
I don’t just sell baby food, I eat some too and have tried the varieties with my boys so I am able to advice parents and I usually get it right.

5. RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH – I’m constantly looking for discounts and offers when doing my purchasing online so I can always afford to sell some products cheaper than my competitors and still make profit. I research on the use of products and child/pregnancy related issues  to give better advice.

My Top 4 Characteristics of Successful Mompreneurs

The recent feature of women in Start Up programs and awards shows how female entrepreneurship journey is picking up in our part of the world.

The 2010 GEM survey reveals that women are more entrepreneurial than men in Ghana. The total entrepreneurial activity survey held in 2010 showed that almost 60% of the population for entrepreneurs were female and only about 42% were males. These shows a lot of women are moving into setting up their own business.

Its means we are doing great as entrepreneurs! I engaged with a couple of women managing their own business and realized most of these women took this decision after they started their families and giving birth. Owing and managing your own business  gives them the opportunity to make time for their families and plan their day to suit their own schedules.
Moving in entrepreneurship also allows women to explore their God – given talent and it through this that we are able to utilize our skills and push to be successful

Today I will share with you my Top 4 characteristics for mothers who become successful entrepreneurs.
1. Organized:  As an entrepreneur it is important that you organize your day and plan. Preparing a schedule allows you to stay organized and also prioritize what needs to be achieved for the day. Though you may organize your day, there sure will be times where you would have to be flexible and not go strictly by the plan. Do not worry , it happens!

2. Self-Motivated:  It is important to be self-motivated as a Mompreneur. It is one thing to deal with your business, but another thing to deal with family ( husband, kids) and even your own self sometimes all at the same time. Make sure you ignite the passion for your business every single day. Work it girl…you can do it if you believe!

3. Balance: It is beautiful and inspiring to see how some women are able to balance their lives at work and home. Some Mothers even work two jobs. They work for an employer and also have some personal business by the side. They come home to work for the family as well. Balancing your life allows you to be at peace with yourself. Don’t forget about yourself though whilst you try to balance your business and your family needs. You are important!

4. Sociable: Mothers who are business owners and are very sociable have the high tendency of being very successful in business. Our current world demands that we most times thrive on networking to propel your business. To build a successful business you need to build good relationships and connect with people on a personal level. When you connect on that level you are able to create a more lasting relationship  and helps to move your business. Get your groove on and go out there!

It is possible to make it in your business and be successful. You just need to  adjust with your environment and do things right.
